The unpainted stone has a nice rough texture that holds wash and drybrushing perfectly. I was able to create a winding stream that looked natural and integrated with my dungeon tiles. These fit snugly with the large banks set, making assembly seamless.

I've been using these to build a river that flows into a large pool, and the negative-space approach works exactly as advertised—the pieces sit flush enough that the water effect reads clearly. The unpainted dwarvenite has a nice subtle texture that grips the table, so nothing slides around mid-game

The unpainted surface takes paint really well, so I was able to customize the banks to match my other terrain. I just wish the set had a few more transition pieces to make smoother river curves.
